Kendra Morris

American soul singer-songwriter Kendra Morris, born on April 10, 1981, is based in New York City. With a taste developed through a library heavy on late-60s and early-70s soul and funk, as well as a love for the cinema scores of the same period, Morris has carved out her own unique sound.

After touring with Motown Funk Brother Dennis Coffey and releasing a series of singles with collaborator and bandmate Jeremy Page, including "Concrete Waves" with the b-side remix by DJ Premier, Morris gained recognition. She released the albums Banshee and Mockingbird on Wax Poetics records. These albums received critical acclaim and garnered a cult following.

Not only did Banshee and Mockingbird receive praise from fans and critics alike, but they also found success in film + TV placements. The title track "Banshee" was prominently featured in the Showtime hit series Ray Donovan. Additionally, her cover of Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" was included in the trailer for the major motion picture Dead Man Down starring Noomi Rapace and Colin Farrell.
