Initially signed to Factory Records, they released their first records through this label. Throughout their career, the band has experienced lineup changes and periods of inactivity.
With a blend of post punk and indie funk influences, A Certain Ratio has left an indelible mark on the music scene since their formation over four decades ago. Hailing from Manchester, England, the band derived its name from a lyric found within Brian Eno's iconic track "The True Wheel." Early on, they established themselves as part of Factory Records' roster before embarking on a journey marked by shifts in personnel and intermittent hiatuses.

ACR:EPA is the first of a trilogy of EPs by A Certain Ratio. EPA is dedicated to Denise Johnson and features the band’s final recordings with Denise, where they used up their final days recording time with a day jamming in the studio with no fixed agenda, the result is something very special. This EP will be followed later in the year by ACR:EPCand ACR:EPR.
