He gained fame as a founding member of Generation X in 1976 before embarking on a successful solo career. After the release of his second studio album "Rebel Yell" in 1983, he became an international rock star and moved to the US to further his career.

Idol's music videos were known for their constant playback on MTV during its early days. His unique blend of punk rock and hard rock influences has earned him a dedicated fan base around the world.
