Chicane is the most famous alias for British songwriter and producer Nick Bracegirdle. He first attracted attention as part of the duo Disco Citizens, with the UK Top 40 hit "Right Here Right Now" in 1995. They continued to work together and remixed their own track "Offshore", which had been released under their Chicane guise as their second release. The remix by Disco Citizens gave them huge commercial success and entered the UK Singles Chart at number 14 in December, 1996.

Bracegirdle later continued as a solo artist and enlisted Maire Brennan from Clannad for a remake of their hit song "Theme From Harry's Game" titled "Saltwater". It reached the UK Top 10 and became an international hit. In March, 2000, his collaboration with Bryan Adams on "Don't Give Up" finally gave Bracegirdle a number 1 hit in his native country. To date, Chicane has scored 11 UK Top 40 singles with five of those being with featured artists.

Nicholas Bracegirdle, a.k.a. Chicane, is the British electronic musician, composer, and producer. He is often seen as one of the seminal Trance originators. After booking some successes with his debut album in 1997, he sealed his worldwide success with his sophomore album Behind the Sun, which was originally released in March 2000. The album spawned four singles, ''Saltwater'', ''Don't Give Up'', ''No Ordinary Morning'' / ''Halcyon'', and ''Autumn Tactics''. Both ''Saltwater'' (feat. Maire Brennan) and ''Don't Give Up'' were released to commercial success, charting #1 on the UK Dance Singles Chart. The latter was a collaboration with best-selling artist Bryan Adams and became a top ten hit on singles charts across Europe and North America.
