Laura Veirs is an American singer-songwriter based in Portland, Oregon. Born in 1973 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, she attended college in Minnesota where she studied geology and Mandarin Chinese. In her early years, Veirs was a member of the all-girl punk band "Rair Kx!" before transitioning to older country and folk music.

In 1999, Veirs released her self-titled album "Laura Veirs," which was recorded live with just her and guitar. Since then, she has collaborated with producer Tucker Martine on multiple records.

With her unique blend of genres and heartfelt lyrics, Laura Veirs continues to captivate audiences with her soulful music.

On Year Of Meteors, familiar surroundings come into sharper focus as the lyrical themes of the sky and outer space now seem mysterious, magical and new. Veirs lyrical allusions to the natural world are disarmingly dreamlike yet scientifically precise.
