American indie rock band from Ridgewood, New Jersey founded in 2008 by Alex Bleeker, Martin Courtney, Matthew Mondanile and Etienne Pierre Duguay. Jackson Pollis replaced Duguay on drums and Jonah Maurer joined the band on keyboards and guitar in 2011. In August 2020 Real Estate announced that Jackson Pollis was taking time out from the band and Sammi Niss replacing him as the band's live drummer.

Several days into recording, all five members of Real Estate were discussing album titles when someone suggested “Daniel,” simply because it seemed funny to bestow a human name upon a record. Was it for&nbsp;Daniel&nbsp;Tashian? Maybe. Was it a nod to The Replacements’&nbsp;<i>Tim</i>? Possibly. Was it the sign of a band that has now been around long enough to take its music seriously without taking itself or its perception too seriously? Absolutely.
